Admissions

The admissions process is managed by the City or York Council’s Admissions Department and the process complies with the Council’s Admissions Policy. This means that Poppleton Ousebank Primary School normally takes children who live in the academy’s catchment area. There may be times when this leaves the academy with spare places – under these circumstances it is possible for pupils who live outside the catchment area to gain a place. In the event of the academy being over-subscribed, the City of York Council will allocate places according to its Admission criteria (see CYC Admissions Booklet). Parents who are unable to obtain a place for their child at Poppleton Ousebank Primary School have the right to an independent appeal

The planned number of places (PAN) for Reception in September 2022 is 60

Admissions Consultation

The Hope Sentamu Learning Trust (HSLT) Trust Board have determined their admissions arrangements for 2023 - 2024.

Following determination of arrangements, any objections to those arrangements must be made to the Schools Adjudicator. Objections to admission arrangements must be referred to the Schools Adjudicator by 15th May in the determination year.

Please follow this link to object to the schools adjudicator regarding a school’s admission arrangements: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/objection-to-school-admission-arrangements

You can object to the schools adjudicator because you consider a school’s admission arrangements:

- are unlawful

- do not comply with the school admissions code

If your concerns are about the admission arrangements for a year other than the 2023 to 2024 academic year, make it clear to which year’s arrangements you are referring.
